Frédéric Choisel — Multiple Journeys 15 October – 28 November 2026

With Multiple Journeys, Frédéric Choisel asserts a free practice, one that refuses to lock itself into a single style and follows, canvas after canvas, the inner voice that guides it. "Art requires freedom. To create a style is to do violence to oneself; it is to imprison oneself."

Skies, landscapes, still lifes, portraits, flowers, horizons in bands of colour: from 2003 to 2026, each series is a journey. In the Hana-Bi (Japanese for "fireworks"), foliage blazes in electric blues and muted reds. In the Partita, his most recent series, lines and fields of colour act like notes, and each painting becomes "a silent score that the viewer is free to interpret."

For Frédéric Choisel, "colors are to painting what notes are to music: the source of its existence. Music exists between the notes, painting between the colors."

The exhibition unfolds in six chapters, from matter to horizons. .

Opening on Thursday 15 October, 6 pm – 9 pm. Galerie ELHABIBI, 14 rue Sainte-Anastase, 75003 Paris. Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am – 1 pm and 2 pm – 7 pm, and by appointment.
