Eduardo Niso

(1937-2008), Colombia

The artist Eduardo Niso was born in Bogota, Colombia, on August 20, 1937. During his adolescence, he traveled across Colombia and discovered the various aspects of his country. While his Greek-origin father wanted him to study law, Eduardo chose to pursue architecture, which he began in Colombia and completed at the Central University of Caracas in Venezuela.

Passionate about travel and exploring the world, he decided in the 1960s to journey across Europe, from Russia to France. He lived in Paris for three months, where he delved into art, visited major museums, and immersed himself in the works of renowned artists.

He started painting as a hobby, but in the 1980s, he turned it into his professional career. In 1995, he visited New York for the first time and sold his first painting abroad.

Subsequently, he continued to refine his art and took part in various group exhibitions in Medellin, Colombia.

Touched by the tragic death of his son in 1997, his work transcended, and he dedicated himself exclusively to his painting.

In 2002, his daughter Carolina organized his first solo exhibition at the Colombian Consulate in New York. Since then, she has represented her father.
